Hey everyone!
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announced its inductees for the Class of 2012 this morning, and they are definitely bands whose names you will recognize and who have helped shape the modern sound of music as we know it today. Guns N' Roses, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Beastie Boys will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April. Some other inductees include the late singer/songwriter Laura Nyro, Donovan, and The Small Faces which featured Rod Stewart and Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood.
For Guns N' Roses, this is a long time in the making for the group, who released their debut album, "Appetite For Destruction" in 1987 that translated into over 28 million albums sold worldwide and millions of adoring fans all the world over. Red Hot Chili Peppers released their debut effort in 1984 and have sold over 70 million albums worldwide, and just released their latest album, "I'm With You" this past August. Beastie Boys have been making the rounds since 1979, and first gained popularity when they opened for Madonna on her The Virgin Tour in 1985. They released their debut album a year later called "License To Ill" and have sold over 40 million albums to date, and just released their newest disc, "Hot Sauce Committee Part 2" this past May. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held in Cleveland on April 14 with a HBO special to air in May.
