Artist Spotlight: Columbus

Hey everyone!

Time to get back into the swing of things with an all new edition of Artist Spotlight. This week, we're continuing our exploration of undiscovered talent in the Boston area with the local band called Columbus. The band consists of Princess Mason on lead vocals, Ian Barnett on drums, Aaron Liao on bass, Ben Allerman on keys, Bobby Wesley on guitar, Leon Cotter on tenor sax, Toby Forman on alto sax, and Jared Baca rounding everything out on trumpet. The band has a throwback, 70's era R&B/soul/funk hybrid that is insanely catchy, melodic, and grabs a hold of you instantaneously. Princess has incredibly rich and soulful vocals that really excite and make you want to pay attention to all of the kinetic energy that they have in store for you. I was able to catch these guys in concert a couple of weeks ago as they were opening for The Fates (another Artist Spotlight alumni) and was absolutely enthralled with every facet of their live performance from their stage presence, audience reaction, and most importantly their music. There wasn't a single song that didn't resonate with me and had my full undivided attention from the beginning of their set right until the very end. Some highly recommended tracks for you to have a listen at include "Lemons" and "Shake".
