Hey everyone!
Ready to bring you another edition of Artist Spotlight for this week! Today, we're keeping it local in Beantown and uncovering for you the sounds of The Grownup Noise. The band consists of Paul Hansen on lead vocals and guitar, Adam Sankowski on bass, keys, and vocals, Rachel Arnold on cello and vocals, Aine Fujioka on drums and vocals, and Todd Marsten on accordion and keys. This Boston based five piece all met while attending Berklee College of Music and soon started playing shows in and around the area, eventually getting their music heard on prominent TV shows such as MTV's "The Real World", while still maintaining their indie grassroots music philosophy. The music itself is a mixture of indie folk, with a slight pop sensibility thrown in for good measure that distinguishes themselves from all the other up and coming bands emanating from the Boston scene these days. I recently had the pleasure of checking these guys in concert this past Friday at Club Passim in the Harvard Square section of Cambridge and it was a really intimate experience where there were a bunch of tables set up in front of the stage where you can order food and drink, and watch the band play music which was a radically different concert experience than what I'm normally used to, but it provided for an entertaining experience all the way throughout and the band put on a quality show where they fit in nicely with the crowd gathered there in attendance. Some recommended tracks for you to take a listen at include "Strawmen" and "Anthem for Second Place".
