Artist Spotlight: Dr. Strangelove

Hey everyone!

We've got a great Artist Spotlight for you this week, but when have I said otherwise? This week we have a hip-hop instrumental artist right out of Nashville, TN called Dr. Strangelove. Dr. Strangelove (whose real name is Spencer Lawrence) has created a truly ingenious instrumental effort called Thoughtcrime, whose theme is based upon the novel 1984 by George Orwell (my favorite book of all-time, by the way), and uses samples from the movie based on the book to create a truly unique and awesome theme based instrumental album that is unlike anything that you've heard before. It's very hard these days to find hip-hop albums that are based on themes (albeit ones that contain vocals versus ones that are solely instrumental based) that really rapture the listener with its sounds that blend in beautifully with the type of theme that it's trying to convey to its listening audience. Another former Artist Spotlight artist G. Jonz employed a theme revolving around cooking titled "Check the Recipe" that was wholly unique and original. This release by Dr. Strangelove breaks down the barriers of creativity and he allows himself to think outside of the box in ways never thought possible. An incredible and unheralded effort.

To check out the music of Dr. Strangelove and to listen to "Thoughtcrime" in its entirety, head on over to his Band Camp page at http://strongbonesproductions.bandcamp.com/releases and listen to the amazing work that Dr. Strangelove has prepared for you! He also has more music available for public listening on his Soundcloud page at http://www.soundcloud.com/the-real-dr-strangelove
