Another edition of Artist Spotlight awaits, and for today we have Boston's own Buttons and Mindy gracing the blog with their presence. The trio consists of Maxy Hewett on guitar and lead vocals, Chance Wells on bass and backing vocals, and Joey Ulmer on drums. The band's name was inspired by characters from the 90's animated series Animaniacs, and these guys have an energetic, fun loving stage presence that comes through in their music with hilarious song titles like "I Don't Know The First Thing About Kiefer Sutherland" and "The Phantom Menace Was The Worst Thing Since My Son" giving you an idea of what these boys are all about. I saw these guys in concert a few weeks ago at The Middle East Upstairs, and they put on a hell of a show that exemplified their musical mission that they set out to accomplish when they were recording and writing these songs, and it also shows that they enjoy being in each others company as well. A great local band that is well deserving of additional exposure here on the blog. The aforementioned songs from the band are great introductory tracks for you to be accustomed with the trio.
For more info on the guys in Buttons and Mindy, head on over to their Facebook page located right here for your convenience where you can view pictures from the band's previous shows in and around the Boston area. The band is located on Twitter and are willing to be followed right here where you can communicate with the band and find out where they'll be playing next! If you want to listen to the band's music, it's available on their BandCamp site here free of charge and will tide you over until the band releases their EP titled "Caterpillar" sometime this year.
