Kicking off the week right with an all new edition of Artist Spotlight! Today, we head over to the land of the Twin Cities, Minneapolis, MN where we come across the folk infused sounds of The Pines. The band consists of David Huckfelt, Benson Ramsey w/ J.T. Bates, James Buckley, Alex Ramsey, Michael Rossetto, and Jacob Hanson. The band has its roots originally from Moonrise, Iowa but they bring their sensibilities that they've obtained from their homeland to make them a natural force of nature with their sound most reminiscent of Fleet Foxes that has an ethereal and mystical nature kicking in almost instantly from the first note, and continues to evolve and gradually digs deeper as the music gets even more profound. I was amazed with the emotional connection that I obtained when listening to these guys, and was really pleased that they maintained their originality from the Landlover State and melded in almost instantaneously when they arrived in Minneapolis, something that is hard to do but the group make it look easy with their hard fought musicality taking its hold on the land around them and settling in quite nicely with the cold weather and kind nature of the people around them. A terrific upstart act that is worth a pass over here on the site. Some tracks to keep on top of include "Rise Up and Be Lonely" and "All the While".
For more info on the gentlemen in The Pines, sail on over to their Facebook page right here and 'Like' it if you enjoy immensely what you hear. The band is available to be followed on Twitter from over here and see if the band will be making a stop in the Boston area anytime soon. Visit their official website at this link here for more in depth information concerning them, and it's where you can check out all of their music that they've released up until this point.
