Kicking off the final week of March with an all new installment of Artist Spotlight! Today, we keep it local here in Boston and touch upon the diverse sounds of Arms and Ears. The band consists of Rocco D'Angelo on lead vocals and guitar, Alex Martin on drums and percussion, Theresa Cleary on vocals and violin, Casey Sullivan on vocals and guitar, Nicholas Castucci on bass, and Chris Mansi on keys and synth. The band's sound is a mysterious and rapturous blend of subtle indie rock influences that have a dark edge to them, but is not too jarring for the prospective listener and adds a nice touch of violin to complement the sound and bring it out to the forefront to keep the listening audience occupied. I caught these guys a few weeks back at The Middle East Upstairs where they showed a strong stage presence that kept the people in their crowd with their eyes focused on the action taking place there, and what was about to transpire next with the violin added a great deal of identification and symbolism to a band that is moving up the rungs of the Boston local music scene ladder. Some songs to take a listen at include "Chapter 2" and "Soon".
