Closing out this Friday with an all new edition of Artist Spotlight, and this one comes courtesy of Boston's own electro rockers Bodega Girls. The band consists of Jacob Otis, EvRock, Jay, Carmen, and Stephen "H. Christ" The Lord. These guys have a high energy, vivacious playing style that manages to incorporate soul, funk, and some slight electro touches to create something totally unique and one musical combination that hasn't been accomplished to a great deal of fanfare until now. I managed to catch these guys in concert a few weeks ago when they opened for Yeasayer at The Sinclair, and I was totally enthralled with their stage presence and their ability to communicate effectively with the audience, something which I think is a essential component for any local act to exhibit when they're on stage. The band definitely left an indelible impression on me, and they're definitely bound to go places well beyond the Beantown area. Some recommended tracks for you to peruse over include "Live Free Or Die" and "Everybody Wants A Piece Of My Baby".
For more information on the peeps in Bodega Girls, head on over to their Facebook page here and see what these people are all about upfront from a musical perspective. You may also follow the band on Twitter from right over here and find out if the band will be stopping by the Boston area sometime soon in concert! Visit their official website here for more in depth information pertaining to the band, and check out their music now available on Spotify and Rdio among fine digital streaming music outlets.
