Super Bowl Musical Comparison

With the Super Bowl looming this Sunday, I thought it would be a neat idea to do a musical comparison between the two cities competing in this year's big game, Denver and Seattle. Both cities have a rich musical climate with a host of artists between the two cities such as John Denver, Pearl Jam, Jimi Hendrix, and countless others. Below is a list of some notable musical groups and solo artists from Denver and Seattle respectively that have name recognition and/or have had an impact on modern music in some capacity:

Musicians/Groups from Denver

Breathe Carolina
Churchill
The Fray
The Lumineers
John Denver
India.Arie

Musicians/Groups from Seattle

Alice in Chains
Band of Horses
Death Cab For Cutie
Fleet Foxes
Jimi Hendrix
Macklemore
Minus The Bear
Nirvana
Pearl Jam

So as you can see, Seattle clearly wins this battle due to the depth of musicians emanating from their general area that have had a profound impact on music in general. Denver can claim fame to 1 or 2 musicians that you can say have had some sort of influence on modern music, but Seattle wins this contest by a mile. See if the Seahawks will be able to win the football battle as well when they take on the Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII this Sunday at 6:30pm on FOX.
